An Update on Georgia's Adventures in Costa Rica (and boy, are we jealous!)

10.6.2021

Somehow a month has already flown by here in Costa Rica! It has been quite the adventure getting creative with my teletherapy clients during the week and exploring the country more on the weekends. Here are a few of this month’s highlights:

Stopping at the farmers market, or “la feria” each weekend to pick up fresh produce. We try and pick out a new fruit to try each time we go. So far, we have enjoyed granadilla, tamarindo, annona, pitaya, plátanos, and more! The Ticos, (the term used for natives of Costa Rica) have been so friendly to us and we look forward to conversing with them at la feria each week.

Weekend trip adventures! So far, we have gone to Poás Volcano, La Paz waterfall, Starbucks coffee farm, Montezuma, Santa Teresa (we learned how to surf there!), Hacienda La Chimba, and Puerto Viejo de Talamanca. It has been interesting to discover the unique cultural differences among many of these places; each offering new foods and activities to try. We look forward to seeing even more of the country in the coming months.

Attending virtual Spanish classes with Conversa Language school. I service both English and Spanish speaking speech/language therapy clients and families, and practicing Spanish in class and in the community has really helped boost my confidence. Convera’s incredible instructors are for all-levels, and they offer virtual classes around the globe. I highly recommend them if you ever want to learn or continue learning the Spanish language!

For the remainder of October we are in Santa Ana, and in November we are off to our next monthly stay in Manuel Antonio.  Manuel Antonio is a magical combination of rainforest, beaches, hills, and coral reefs, making it one of the most biodiverse areas in the world and one of the most visited in Costa Rica. If you have any questions about my journey or our teletherapy services, please feel free to reach out at georgia@millertherapyllc.com. ¡Hasta luego!
