Georgia is Costa Rica Bound!

8/27/2021

In one week, I will be heading off on an adventure of a lifetime to Costa Rica! During undergrad, I had double-majored in Communication Sciences and Disorders as well as Spanish, and was fortunate to go on study abroad trips as part of my degree; one of which was Costa Rica back in 2016 (see picture below).

I studied in Costa Rica while staying with a host family for approximately three weeks and absolutely fell in love with the culture; the amazing people, scenic views, fresh cuisine, and the Spanish language. When it was time to leave, I promised myself that I would make it back one day when the time was right, for longer than three weeks to feel total immersion once again.

Although this pandemic has been awful for many reasons, we all know that it also started to provide flexibility (for some) with the option to work from home. My fiancé and I began to play with the idea of working from “home,” while in Costa Rica. After much planning and preparation, we are finally making this dream happen for the next three months (Sept-Dec), and could not be more thrilled! I have a passion for speech-language therapy via teletherapy, and feel so lucky that Miller Therapy allows me to do so. I won’t even need to use my green screen anymore to find a jungle background with monkeys!

When we arrive, we plan to stay in Santa Ana, Costa Rica for two months, and Manuel Antonio for the last month. Santa Ana is a traditional Costa Rican town with a host of modern amenities. Manuel Antonio is a magical combination of rainforest, beaches, hills, and coral reefs, making it one of the most biodiverse areas in the world and one of the most visited in Costa Rica. We truly look forward to getting to travel and practice our Spanish, so I can continue building my skills as a bilingual speech-language therapist. If you have any questions about my journey or our teletherapy services, please feel free to reach out at georgia@millertherapyllc.com. ¡Hasta luego!
